Fasih Ur Rehman: The Young Visionary Redefining Pakistan’s Television Industry

Fasih Ur Rehman, born in November 1996, began his professional journey far from the limelight of the media industry. He pursued a degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Oregon State University, graduating in 2021. Initially, he stepped into the construction and real estate sector, where he honed his leadership, project management, and strategic thinking skills. But his time abroad and exposure to diverse cultures sparked a vision—he realized the power of storytelling and media as tools for shaping society and influencing change.

With that inspiration, Fasih took a bold leap into an entirely different world. In 2023, he founded Green Entertainment, a television channel unlike any other in Pakistan. The channel began test transmissions in April and officially launched in July the same year. From the start, Green Entertainment positioned itself as a platform for socially conscious and meaningful narratives—stories that tackle women’s empowerment, mental health, marginalized voices, and cultural issues. Importantly, Fasih was determined to keep the channel free from establishment influence, maintaining complete editorial and creative independence.

His approach to content was just as daring. Rather than following formulaic TV trends, Fasih gave writers and directors complete creative freedom, encouraging them to produce bold, original stories. This resulted in dramas like Nauroz, Kabli Pulao, Pagal Khana, Akhara, and Dunyapur—productions that stood out for their fresh perspectives and high cinematic quality. His leadership style fused the discipline of engineering with the creative unpredictability of media, setting a new standard for storytelling in Pakistan.

In just over a year, Green Entertainment made a strong mark on the industry. The launch of Shark Tank Pakistan in late 2024 brought a completely new reality TV format to Pakistani audiences, while the high-stakes drama Faraar, starring Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ahmed Ali Akbar, showcased the channel’s commitment to compelling, high-quality productions. With his sister Tehreem Chaudhry steering digital and marketing strategy, the channel also built a powerful online presence that resonated with younger viewers.

Fasih’s success didn’t come without challenges—many doubted a 20-something with an engineering background could run a major TV network. Others speculated about establishment backing, which he firmly denied. But his vision, resilience, and commitment to meaningful content silenced the skeptics. Today, Fasih Ur Rehman stands as one of the youngest and most dynamic media entrepreneurs in Pakistan, proving that with courage, creativity, and clear purpose, it’s possible to rewrite the rules of an entire industry.
