As Murree experiences intense winter weather with heavy snowfall, the city’s traffic police have emerged as unsung heroes, working tirelessly through the night to ensure tourist safety and smooth traffic flow. Additional traffic police personnel were positioned at key duty points, including all entry and exit routes, major arteries, bazaars and tourist locations during the recent New Year’s celebrations and ongoing winter season.
Chief Traffic Officer Imran Razaq is personally overseeing traffic operations while remaining in the field to ensure smooth movement and public safety, demonstrating leadership by example. The commitment extends beyond daylight hours, with officers stationed at critical points throughout the night when conditions are most treacherous.
During the snowfall season, the strength of traffic police and civil defence volunteers has been increased, with 19 facilitation centres made operational on GT Road, motorway routes, and roads leading from Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Murree, remaining open 24 hours throughout the season.
These dedicated officers face harsh conditions, working in freezing temperatures and limited visibility to manage thousands of vehicles entering the hill station. Traffic wardens deployed at various points during snowfall play an important role in ensuring public safety and facilitating smooth travel, often preventing accidents and assisting stranded tourists.
Their round-the-clock presence, especially during the early morning hours when temperatures plummet and roads become most dangerous, exemplifies extraordinary public service. While tourists enjoy Murree’s winter beauty, these traffic officers remain vigilant, ensuring everyone returns home safely.
