Indian stand-up comedian and reality show star Munawar Faruqui has sparked a major controversy after posting a bold statement on social media on March 2, 2026, connecting the US-Israel bombing of Iran with the explosive Epstein files scandal.
Without naming any country directly, Munawar wrote that the world is being distracted from the Epstein files by bombing the only country that dared to stand up against the genocide in Gaza. He also called a “child molester playing hero” a sign of an ugly world.
His post came at a deeply sensitive moment. Before the United States and Israel launched their war on Iran, the fallout from files released by the US Department of Justice on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was shaking the world. The files had already led to the arrest of former British royal Prince Andrew and former UK Ambassador Peter Mandelson, seriously rocking the Keir Starmer government.
An analyst from Atlas Global Strategies stated that the attack’s timing was all about domestic politics in both the US and Israel, with very little strategic rationale, adding that Trump’s approval numbers were among the worst this early in any presidency and that a war would serve as a distraction.
Even American Republican Congressman Thomas Massie agreed on some level, saying that bombing a country on the other side of the globe won’t make the Epstein files go away.
The Epstein files, released in January 2026, included 3 million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images, shining a harsh light on powerful figures across politics, business, and royalty worldwide.
Munawar’s post divided social media users sharply, many supported his courage to speak up, while others strongly criticised him. It remains one of the most talked-about celebrity statements of the week.
