Pakistani singer and politician Jawad Ahmad has found himself at the centre of a fresh controversy after a video went massively viral on social media showing him verbally insulting a journalist during what appeared to be a podcast or interview session at his home.
In the video, Jawad Ahmad is seen losing his temper completely. He calls the journalist a “do takay ka sahafi”. The shocking clip spread rapidly across TikTok, Instagram, and X, sparking a fierce debate about how public figures treat members of the media.
The incident is particularly jarring given Jawad Ahmad’s own past statements about respect. In a previous interview, Jawad had spoken at length about how profanity and disrespect have poisoned Pakistani society, expressing deep concern about where the country is headed when no room is left for reasoning or different ideas, and only insults remain. His own outburst now appears to contradict those very values he once publicly championed directly.
Jawad Ahmad is the founder and chairman of Barabri Party Pakistan, a leftist political party he established in 2017. He is also a well-known pop singer, a mechanical engineer by education, and a social activist. In January 2025, LESCO also accused him of assaulting staff during a meter inspection at his Johar Town premises, a charge he denied, calling it politically motivated.
Critics online pointed out a pattern of aggressive behaviour, while supporters argued that journalists sometimes cross professional boundaries during interviews. Either way, the video has seriously damaged Jawad Ahmad’s carefully built image as a champion of equality and respectful public discourse.
