In a story that has spread from Algeria to every corner of the Muslim world, a tiny three-year-old boy named Abdul Rahman Farih has achieved something that most adults spend years working toward, he has memorised the entire Holy Quran, word for word, from the very first verse to the very last.
Abdul Rahman Farih from Algeria holds the Guinness World Record for becoming the youngest Hafiz-e-Quran at the remarkable age of just three years old, making him the youngest person in recorded history to accomplish this extraordinary feat.
What makes his story even more breathtaking is how he did it. Despite being only three years old and unable to read a single written word, Abdul Rahman memorised the entire Book of Allah purely through listening, absorbing its verses into his heart and mind simply by hearing them repeatedly.
His journey began even before birth. His mother used to recite Surah Kahf regularly during her pregnancy, and that became the very first Surah Abdul Rahman memorised. It took him just one year, from age two to three, to complete the memorisation of the entire Quran. He also mastered the Tarteel style of recitation without making a single mistake in the rules of recitation.
The Qari of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Rashad Al-Sharif, was so moved by Abdul Rahman’s achievement that he personally presented the young child with the Golden Abaya, a deeply symbolic honour in the Islamic world.
Today, there are estimated to be more than 200 million Hafiz worldwide, concentrated across Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Morocco, Nigeria, and Egypt. Yet among all of them, a three-year-old boy from Algeria stands alone, the youngest of them all.
