“Forget All Differences, We Should Support Iran”: Mufti Tariq Usmani

In one of the most significant religious statements to emerge from Pakistan since the beginning of the Middle East conflict, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Pakistan’s Grand Mufti and one of the most respected Islamic scholars in the entire world, has issued a powerful and historic call for Muslims everywhere to set aside their sectarian differences and stand united in support of Iran.

The Grand Mufti of Pakistan underlined the urgent need for supporting Iran in the face of what he described as the bullying conduct of the US president and the Israeli regime. He warned specifically of a US-Israeli plot to sow seeds of discord and spread flames of division among Muslims during this period of aggression.

Mufti Taqi Usmani made clear that Muslims must not make any miscalculation and fall into the trap of discord. He stated that today is a time for unity, and that turning toward sectarian differences at this moment would mean acting in favour of the enemy.

Therefore, he said, Muslims must stand united and support Iran. He also praised the Pakistani government’s official condemnation of the aggression and its support for the neighbouring Muslim country.

He further warned that the United States and the Israeli regime are actively seeking chaos and discord among Muslim countries and pushing them toward civil war, making Muslim unity not just a religious duty but a matter of collective survival.

Coming from a Sunni Deobandi scholar of Mufti Taqi Usmani’s towering stature, this call carries extraordinary weight. Born in 1943, Mufti Taqi Usmani served as a judge of the Federal Shariat Court and the Shariat Appellate Bench of Pakistan’s Supreme Court, and in 2020 was selected as the most influential Muslim personality in the entire world.
