Hina Afridi Reveals Shocking Peshawar Wedding Tradition Where Groom Must Face Gunfire to Prove Bravery

Pakistani actress Hina Afridi recently opened up about a fascinating and little-known Pashtun wedding tradition from Peshawar that left many people surprised. Afridi shared that in some Pashtun tribes, when the baraat arrives, the bride’s family fires shots near the groom’s feet, and if he gets scared and runs, the marriage is canceled. She said this tradition is still practiced in certain parts of Peshawar and was shared with her by relatives.

Hina Afridi is a renowned Pakistani model and television actress, well known for her roles in hit dramas like Pehli Si Mohabbat, Akhara, and Raaja Rani. She tied the knot on January 16, 2026, in a ceremony that quickly trended on social media due to its viral Nikah and dholki events.

Afridi also took a strong stand during the show about her pre-marriage demands, saying it is the Sharia and legal right of every girl to ask for what she wants from her husband. She added that every girl should know her rights and should not settle for less in life.

In a touching social media post, Hina shared highlights from her baraat day and dedicated the moment to her late mother, writing that she is deeply grateful and forever held by love, thanking her mother for wanting her wedding to be perfect.

The traditional Hina described reflects a deep cultural value in Pashtun society; courage and bravery are not just admired but are treated as conditions for a marriage to move forward. It is a raw and dramatic way of ensuring the groom is truly ready to take on the responsibility of a family.
