Eid-ul-Fitr Moon Sighted in Pakistan, Eid to Be Celebrated on Saturday

The moon marking the start of Shawwal has been sighted in Pakistan, confirming that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday. The decision was announced after verification of moon sighting reports received from multiple areas across the country. With this, the fasting month of Ramadan officially comes to an end.

Eid-ul-Fitr begins on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic lunar calendar. Since this calendar depends on moon sightings, the exact date can vary from country to country. In Pakistan, official confirmation is handled by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which gathers evidence before making a final announcement.

On Eid morning, Muslims gather in large numbers to offer Eid نماز in mosques and open grounds. Sermons usually focus on unity, patience, and gratitude. After prayers, people greet each other and spend time with family. Traditional foods such as sheer khurma are commonly prepared in many homes.

Public spaces and markets often remain active late into the night before Eid, as people complete last-minute shopping. Transport services also see heavy movement as many travel to their hometowns to celebrate with loved ones.

Eid-ul-Fitr also carries a strong message of compassion. People are encouraged to forgive past differences and support those who are less fortunate, making it a day centered on both joy and social responsibility.
