Pakistani actor Ahsan Mohsin Ikram has strongly urged people to boycott the Indian film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. In a clear social media message, he called the movie “ultimate filth Indian propaganda” and asked all Pakistanis around the world not to watch or support it.
The film, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, is a spy action thriller. It has been officially banned in Pakistan. Ahsan Mohsin Ikram said buying a ticket for the film would mean funding propaganda that spreads hatred against Pakistan and Islam.
He described Bollywood actors involved in the project as working under the disguise of entertainment while supporting Hindutva ideology.
In his appeal, the actor also requested Pakistan’s Foreign Office to use diplomatic channels with countries in the Middle East, the US, UK, and others to get the film banned there too. He advised people to spend their time and money on things that respect their country, culture, and religion instead.
Ahsan Mohsin Ikram’s statement has received mixed reactions. While many Pakistanis supported his call for boycott, the film is still being watched through pirated versions in some places.
The controversy once again highlights the deep sensitivities between the two neighbouring countries when it comes to films touching on political or military themes.
