A Man Jumped from Upper Floor of Masjid-ul-Haram, and Wanted to Take His Life

A serious incident unfolded at Masjid-ul-Haram in Makkah when a man attempted to take his own life by jumping from an upper floor of the holy mosque. The situation caused concern among worshippers but it was quickly handled by Saudi security forces present at the site.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, the Special Force assigned to the security of the Grand Mosque acted immediately after noticing the man’s actions.

Their swift response helped bring the situation under control and ensured the safety of pilgrims performing prayers inside the mosque. During the rescue effort, a security officer was injured while trying to stop the man from hitting the ground. Both the man and the injured officer were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The Saudi General Directorate of Public Security also confirmed the incident and shared a video showing how security teams moved rapidly to manage the situation. Officials said the quick coordination prevented further harm and avoided disruption inside the mosque.

Authorities praised the professionalism of the security staff noting that their priority was to protect lives and maintain order in one of Islam’s holiest places.

According to the source, the Chief Imam of the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Abdur Rahman As Sudais, later addressed the incident. He urged pilgrims to respect the sanctity of Masjid-ul-Haram and to focus on worship while following all rules and guidance. He emphasized that preserving human life is a core teaching of Islam.

Quoting the Holy Quran, he reminded worshippers, “And do not throw yourselves into destruction with your own hands,” reinforcing the message that life must be protected at all times.
