A Muezzin Died In Jeddah While Reading The Holy Quran After Performing Namaz In The Mosque

A touching story has resurfaced online: a muezzin (the person who calls for prayer) passed away peacefully while reciting the Holy Quran inside a mosque in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The incident involves Abdul Haq al-Halabi, a 60-year-old Syrian muezzin who had lived in Saudi Arabia for about 40 years. In July 2017, he died at Masjid Al-Sulaimani in Jeddah. He was sitting in the mosque after performing prayers, reciting the Quran as he waited for the time of the Fajr (dawn) Adhan. Minutes before the call to prayer, he passed away quietly while still holding and reading the Holy Book.

Abdul Haq was known in the local community for his strong devotion. He spent his last three years fully dedicated to serving the mosque and its worshippers, often reciting Quran regularly. His death in such a blessed state inside the house of Allah, during worship, moved many people deeply. It is seen as a beautiful end, fulfilling the Islamic hope of dying while remembering Allah.

The story has been shared again recently on Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms, reminding Muslims of the honor of passing away in acts of ibadat (worship). Videos and photos show the emotional moment when people realized he had left this world.

Such incidents inspire reflection: dying while engaged in Quran recitation or prayer is considered one of the best ways to leave this life. It highlights the importance of staying close to Allah at all times, especially in mosques.

Abdul Haq’s story continues to touch hearts, showing how a life of service and devotion can end in peace and closeness to the Creator.
