Pakistani cinema’s most anticipated film of 2026 is finally arriving on the big screen this Eid al-Fitr, and the excitement is absolutely real. Aag Lagay Basti Mein, starring Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa, is shaping up to be the biggest blockbuster release of the year.
The film stars Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan as Barkat, an honest, hard-working man who just cannot catch a break, and Almaas, his wife, who has had enough of his idealistic approach to life. Initially employed as cleaners, the two turn to petty crime in an effort to improve their lives, clearly Almaas’s idea. The stakes clearly do not stay small for long, with bigger criminals getting involved soon after.
Directed and written by Bilal Atif Khan, and jointly produced by ARY Films, Salman Iqbal Films, and Big Bang Films, the supporting cast includes Javed Sheikh as a crime boss, along with Ali Raza, Mohib Mirza, Ali Rehman Khan, and social media star Shehzadi Samra.
Fahad Mustafa said that a scene in which his father, Salahuddin Tunio, slapped him carried emotional significance, adding that he continues to learn from him as an actor. Mahira Khan said the role was different from characters she had previously played and noted that the brief required her to portray a more confrontational personality, something she said did not come naturally to her, but the strength of the script helped her prepare.
The trailer dropped on February 9, 2026, and the film is set to release in cinemas on Eid al-Fitr 2026. The announcement quickly drew reactions from celebrities, with Fawad Khan reposting the poster and simply writing “Best wishes!!” while Aiman Khan expressed she “Cannot wait” to see the film.
With its mix of comedy, romance, and action set against the backdrop of Karachi, Aag Lagay Basti Mein is set to be the film everyone is talking about this Eid.
