In a dramatic act of heroism at Islam’s holiest site, security officer Rayan bin Saeed Al-Asiri risked his life to save a man who attempted suicide at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred on Thursday when a man jumped from the upper floors of Masjid Al Haram in a desperate attempt to end his life.
Viral video footage captured the heart-stopping moment as the individual leaped from an elevated section of the mosque. Officer Al-Asiri, stationed below, immediately rushed forward and stretched his arms to break the man’s fall, preventing him from hitting the ground with full force. The swift intervention succeeded in saving the man’s life, though both individuals sustained serious injuries in the process.
The Special Force for the Security of the Grand Mosque responded immediately to the crisis. Authorities confirmed that Al-Asiri suffered multiple fractures while attempting to catch the falling man. Medical teams quickly transported both individuals to hospital for treatment, and all necessary legal procedures were completed.
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, personally called the injured officer to commend his extraordinary courage.
