Duraid Qureshi is a renowned media executive and entrepreneur who has made a lasting impact on the Pakistani media industry. As the Chief Executive Officer of Hum Network Limited, he has been instrumental in establishing and growing one of Pakistan’s most successful media conglomerates. His leadership, innovation, and vision have helped shape the entertainment landscape in Pakistan, making him one of the most influential figures in the industry.
Duraid Qureshi comes from a family deeply rooted in media and culture. He is the son of Sultana Siddiqui, a respected television producer and the founder of Hum Network. This connection not only gave him early exposure to the world of media but also instilled in him a passion for storytelling and creative expression. He pursued his education in business and holds an MBA from the prestigious Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He also completed an executive program at Harvard Business School, which contributed to his understanding of global media trends and corporate leadership.
Before stepping into the media world, Duraid started his career in the corporate and finance sector, including roles in treasury management and operations. His transition into media began with his involvement in Moomal Productions, one of Pakistan’s largest content production companies. Under his leadership, Moomal Productions expanded its reach and began producing high-quality television dramas that were both commercially successful and culturally impactful.
In 2004, Duraid played a key role in launching Hum Network Limited, initially starting with Hum TV. The channel quickly gained popularity for its unique programming, focusing on socially relevant themes, strong storytelling, and quality production. Unlike many competitors, Hum TV carved a niche by presenting progressive narratives, empowering female characters, and showcasing Pakistani culture in a positive light.
Under his leadership, Hum Network has expanded to include several other channels, such as Hum Masala (a food channel), Hum Sitaray, Hum News, and Hum Pashto 1. These channels cater to diverse audiences across different segments, from entertainment and news to lifestyle and regional content. In addition to television, the network has also diversified into film production with the creation of Hum Films, as well as event management and fashion platforms such as Hum Bridal Couture Week and the Hum Awards.
Duraid Qureshi has also been recognized for his achievements. He was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian awards, in recognition of his contributions to the media industry. His leadership has not only brought commercial success to Hum Network but has also elevated the profile of Pakistani media globally, particularly among the South Asian diaspora.
Despite challenges faced by traditional media in the digital age, Duraid continues to steer Hum Network towards innovation and adaptation. He remains committed to producing content that reflects Pakistan’s cultural richness while appealing to modern audiences. His legacy is one of visionary leadership, cultural advocacy, and entrepreneurial excellence in Pakistani media.
