Faith Over Fortune: Pakistani Kaaba Worker’s Viral Prayer in Hijr-e-Ismail Melts Hearts Worldwide

In a story that has melted hearts across the Muslim world and continues to resurface on social media, a Pakistani worker assigned to clean the Holy Kaaba in Makkah made a choice that most people could barely imagine, he refused money and asked for something priceless instead.

A Pakistani worker who performs the duty of cleaning the Holy Kaaba got his wish fulfilled as the administration of Al-Haram Mosque allowed him to pray inside Hijr-e-Ismail. The Pakistani worker was voted the most diligent cleaner of the month. The mosque’s administration wanted to reward the worker with a cash prize but he refused.

The administration of Al-Haram Mosque intended to reward him with money, but he had another wish. That wish came true when they allowed him to pray inside Hijr-e-Ismail. Honouring his wish, the administration directed that the doors be closed and the sacred place of Hijr-e-Ismail was completely assigned to him.

To understand why this moment is so spiritually powerful, one must know what Hijr-e-Ismail truly is. The Hijr Ismail, commonly known as the Hateem, is a crescent-shaped area adjacent to the Kaaba in Masjid al-Haram, Mecca. It is one of the most spiritually significant places for Muslims, and praying inside the Hatem is considered equivalent to praying within the Kaaba itself.

According to Islamic scriptures, the Messenger of Allah used to spend hours in Hateem reciting the Holy Quran and worshipping Allah. The area of Hateem is usually crowded, especially because every Muslim wishes to offer two Rakat of Nafl there.

This humble Pakistani worker’s story is a beautiful reminder that true faith values spiritual reward far above material gain. His single, selfless wish to pray in the holiest spot on Earth earned him a moment that millions of Muslims around the world can only dream of.

The photograph of him prostrating alone in Hijr-e-Ismail, bathed in golden light, became one of the most emotionally moving images to ever emerge from the precincts of Masjid al-Haram, and continues to inspire Muslims everywhere.
