In a beautiful act of unity and respect, Hindu students at Lucknow University formed a human chain to protect their Muslim classmates who were offering namaz (prayer) on campus. The heartwarming moment happened in February and quickly went viral on social media.
Videos shared on Instagram, Facebook, and X show a group of Hindu students standing in a circle around Muslim students as they prayed during Zuhr time. The Hindu students linked arms to create a safe space, blocking any possible disturbance from passersby or crowds. They stood quietly and respectfully until the namaz finished, allowing their friends to complete their prayers in peace.
The move came after the university allegedly sealed the mosque inside Lal Baradari, trying to prevent the Muslim students from offering prayers during the holy month of Ramzan.
“LU’s Muslim students have been offering namaz in the centuries-old Lal Baradari, located on the Lucknow University campus, since the university’s inception. Without any prior information to the Muslim students who offer prayers during the holy month of Ramzan, the historic structure was sealed,” SCS student organisation representative Navneet Kumar stated.
This act received huge praise online. People called it “true brotherhood,” “real humanity,” and “the spirit of India.” Comments flooded in with messages like “This is what unity looks like” and “Respect for all religions.” Many shared the clip with captions such as “Hindu students protect Muslim friends during namaz at Lucknow University, Hindu Students Formed a Human Chain for Muslim Students Who Were Offering Namaz at Lucknow Universityproud moment!”
The incident reflects the strong interfaith harmony often seen on Indian university campuses. Lucknow University, located in Uttar Pradesh, has a diverse student body with people from different religions studying together. Such acts of kindness help build trust and friendship among young people.
The video reminded everyone that small gestures of support can create big positive change. In a world where differences sometimes cause tension, this simple human chain showed that respect and care go beyond religion. It inspired many to share stories of similar unity in their own communities.
This moment from Lucknow University stands as a powerful example of harmony, kindness, and mutual respect during everyday campus life.
