“I Don’t Have Money to Pay Back, There are No Friends!”: Our Childhood Favourite Comedy King Rajpal Yadav’s Last Words Before Going to Jail

Bollywood’s beloved comedy actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his memorable performances in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Chup Chup Ke, and Hungama, was sent to Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, following a heartbreaking legal battle over unpaid debts.

The case dates back to 2010 when Yadav took a loan of around Rs5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd for his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. The film’s box office failure triggered a financial crisis that has haunted the actor for over a decade. Due to bounced cheques, penalties, and accumulated interest, the debt ballooned to approximately Rs 9 crore.

Before surrendering, Yadav made an emotional statement that broke hearts across the nation. He said, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”

The Delhi High Court rejected his final plea for more time on February 4, 2026, after noting he had breached approximately 20 court undertakings despite making partial payments of Rs75 lakh in 2025.

However, support has poured in from the film industry. Actor Sonu Sood offered Yadav a role in his upcoming film with a signing amount, while music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh pledged Rs1.11 crore toward his debt. Politician Tej Pratap Yadav and others have also extended financial assistance.

The actor’s next court hearing is scheduled for February 12, with hopes that he may secure bail soon.
