Iran has built the world’s largest statue of Zulfiqar, the famous double-bladed sword of Imam Ali (AS), and placed it on a major highway in Tehran. The huge statue stands proudly along Hazrat Zahra (SA) Road Garden, one of the busiest roads in the capital. It was unveiled in late February 2026 as part of a project to decorate important city areas with Islamic symbols.
Zulfiqar is a very special symbol in Islam, especially for Shia Muslims. It represents bravery, justice, and the strength of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam and cousin of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The sword has two sharp blades and is often shown in art, flags, and architecture across Muslim countries. In Iran, Zulfiqar appears on military badges, mosques, and national symbols as a sign of power and faith.
The new statue is made of strong metal and concrete, painted in gold and silver colors to shine in the sun. It stands more than 30 meters tall and can be seen from far away by people driving on the highway. Local officials said the statue reminds everyone of Islamic values like courage, fairness, and standing against wrong. It was built to make the city look more beautiful and spiritual.
This large Zulfiqar statue joins other big Islamic monuments in Tehran, like the huge flags and religious art around the city. It shows how Iran uses art and symbols to remember its faith and history. For drivers and visitors, the statue is now a landmark that brings a message of power, peace, and spiritual pride every time they pass by.
