“Jab Ami 17 Saal Bed Par Thein Toh Dil Chahata Tha 17 Saal Roun”: Hadiqa Kiani

Pakistani music icon and actress Hadiqa Kiani recently opened up about the profound emotional journey she endured while caring for her late mother, revealing a heartbreaking desire to cry for 17 years straight during her mother’s prolonged illness.

During her appearance on the popular talk show Mazaq Raat, Hadiqa revealed that she rarely cries in real life and only sheds tears while acting in dramas. The reason behind this emotional control stems from an intensely personal experience that shaped her into the strong woman she is today.

Her late mother was bedridden for 17 years, during which time Hadiqa had to care for her mother almost like a daughter. The legendary singer’s mother, Khawar Kiani, was a renowned poet who had written lyrics for some of Hadiqa’s biggest hits, including the iconic “Boohey Barian.” She suffered paralysis in 2006 and remained bedridden until her passing in October 2022.

Hadiqa explained that when circumstances force you to raise your own mother like your daughter, you have no choice but to develop incredible strength and resilience. She stated that breaking down simply wasn’t an option during those challenging years, as she had to be the pillar of support for her entire family.

Throughout this difficult period, Hadiqa continued her successful career in music and later ventured into acting, all while being the primary caregiver for her mother. She also raised her adopted son, Naad-e-Ali, as a single mother after her divorce in 2008.

Her revelation has touched hearts across Pakistan, with fans praising her strength and dedication to family despite facing immense personal challenges.
