Pakistan’s beloved actress Mahira Khan recently had a heartwarming meeting with the iconic journalist Chand Nawab, the man whose unforgettable Eid reporting clip won the hearts of millions across the world.
Back in 2008, a video of Chand Nawab fumbling while reporting on Eid festivities in Karachi went viral. In the clip, he was trying to report live from a busy railway station, describing how people from Karachi were travelling to Lahore to celebrate Eid with their families, but kept getting interrupted by passersby. His frustrated yet funny reactions made the video one of Pakistan’s most beloved internet moments.
The clip became so iconic that Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character in Salman Khan’s 2015 film Bajrangi Bhaijaan was directly inspired by him, bringing Chand Nawab global recognition.
Mahira Khan, who was shooting at a train station for her upcoming film, could not resist bringing the moment back to life. She shared a fun reel on Instagram, reenacting Chand Nawab’s legendary Eid reporting clip.
In the reel, Mahira lip-synced Nawab’s iconic dialogue about Karachi passengers heading home to celebrate Eid, and also hilariously mimicked his famous on-camera reaction when he got interrupted.
When the two finally met in person, Mahira called Chand Nawab a true legend and showed deep respect for the joy and laughter he had given to generations of Pakistanis.
Fans loved the video and filled the comments with laughter and praise. The moment reminded everyone why Chand Nawab holds such a special place in Pakistan’s pop culture, and always will.
