Pakistani film star Shaan Shahid has sharply criticised the recently released teaser of the Bollywood movie Border 2, aiming at one of the film’s key dialogues that became widely discussed online. The film’s teaser features a battle scene where an army officer asks, “Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye?” and soldiers respond, “Lahore tak!”, a line intended to evoke patriotism among Indian audiences.
Responding on social media, Shaan wrote a satirical comment referencing recent India-Pakistan tensions, saying: “Jee aap ke Rafale girney ki awaaz Lahore tak aayi thi.” His remark suggested that the sound of Indian Rafale jets crashing during the May aerial conflict was heard in Lahore, a jab at the film’s dramatic dialogue and what he called exaggerated storytelling.
Shaan’s criticism quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing strong reactions from fans and followers. Many Pakistanis sided with his view, saying films with strong patriotic content should balance emotion with realism, while others defended the filmmakers’ creative choices.
Border 2 is set for release on January 23, 2026, and has already generated substantial buzz due to its war theme and high-profile cast, including Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan. The movie aims to build on the legacy of the original Border film with dramatized combat scenes and emotional moments.
Shaan Shahid is known for his outspoken views on cinema and patriotism. He has previously expressed strong opinions on cross-border artistic collaborations and emphasised the importance of authenticity and respect for national sentiments in storytelling.
His latest comments reflect a broader conversation about how films portray national identity and historical events, especially amid ongoing regional tensions.
