Pakistani actress Hira Mani has left social media users stunned after revealing her unconventional food preference, mixing zarda (sweet rice) and fruit chaat with biryani. The confession came during a recent Instagram interview and quickly went viral across platforms.
Hira shared her love for this unusual food combination, explaining that she has been eating biryani with zarda and fruit chaat since childhood. The revelation took the host by surprise, who immediately asked why she liked such a mix.
The actress laughed off the surprise, stating simply: “Main biryani mein fruit chaat bhi daal kar khati hoon” (I even eat fruit chaat with my biryani). She mentioned that her husband, Salman Saqib (Mani), also questions this habit, and whenever she offers him the combination, he refuses, expressing his displeasure.
Hira added that her fondness for sweets might be the reason behind her preference for adding something sweet to her biryani. This explanation makes sense given that she combines the savory, spicy biryani with sweet zarda and tangy-sweet fruit chaat, creating a blend of opposite flavors.
For most Pakistanis, biryani is sacred, a dish that shouldn’t be tampered with. The idea of mixing it with dessert-like items seemed almost sacrilegious to traditional food lovers who value biryani in its authentic form.
Social media users have had mixed reactions to Hira’s confession. While some are surprised by the combination, others appreciate her innocent charm and playful nature. Several fans defended her right to enjoy food however she prefers, while others jokingly called her “food combination choices a crime against biryani.”
Despite the online debate, Hira remains unapologetic about her unique palate, proving that personal food preferences are exactly that, personal.
