Pakistani actress, host, and television personality Sanam Jung has given some of the most honest and heartfelt advice to young girls dreaming of a life abroad after marriage, and her words have deeply resonated with millions across Pakistan.
Sanam openly said that girls should not marry abroad and should not leave Pakistan. She described staying in Pakistan as the best feeling, warning that once you leave, you will first miss your parents, and everything else will follow. She also revealed that she often tells her husband she wants to move back, and if not Pakistan, then at least to Dubai to be close to her family.
Sanam married US-based pilot Syed Abdul Qassam Jafri in 2016. The couple initially maintained a long-distance relationship while Qassam worked in America. When Sanam’s green card came through, she moved to Houston, Texas, with their daughter so the family could live together under one roof.
After settling in Texas, Sanam quickly realised how much she had taken life in Pakistan for granted. She pointed out that even small things, like someone running to buy tomatoes or cleaning up a spill, are things you simply cannot rely on anyone else to do abroad.
What weighs most heavily on Sanam’s heart is time passing while her parents grow older. She said this is the most precious time to be close to them, to receive their blessings, and to give back all the love they gave her.
Now a mother of two, Sanam says that raising her children is the hardest and most important job she has ever done, and that the family always planned their future around making stable decisions for the kids.
Her words serve as a powerful reminder that no amount of foreign luxury can replace the warmth, support, and love of a family home.
