Pakistan Day Celebrated With Simplicity Across The Country

Pakistan Day is observed every year on March 23 to mark two historic milestones. The day primarily commemorates the adoption of the first Constitution of Pakistan, which transformed the Dominion of Pakistan into the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on March 23, 1956. The day also honors the passing of the Lahore Resolution in 1940, which set the agenda for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent.

However, Pakistan Day 2026 was notably different from previous years. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the Pakistan Day parade and associated ceremonial events would not be held on March 23, 2026, due to the ongoing Gulf oil crisis and austerity measures announced by the government.

The day dawned with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country.

Pakistan Day 2026 was observed across the country with a spirit of patriotism, though celebrations remained simple, with the focus on modest flag-hoisting ceremonies rather than large public gatherings. Despite the scaled-back format, the national spirit remained very much alive.
