Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will play the iconic SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, the fearless Karachi police officer known as the “encounter king,” in Aditya Dhar’s highly anticipated spy thriller Dhurandhar. The film draws inspiration from real events surrounding Karachi’s brutal gang wars and India-Pakistan intelligence operations.
The official trailer, launched on November 18, 2025, in Mumbai, shows Dutt in a never-seen-before avatar: bearded, intense, and exuding raw power as “The Jinn.” Chaudhry Aslam, who headed Sindh Police’s Anti-Extremist Cell, survived over a dozen assassination attempts by the Taliban before being killed in a 2014 car bombing. Dutt’s portrayal captures the officer’s signature swagger, chain-smoking demeanor, and no-nonsense attitude that made him both feared and respected.
Directed by the man behind Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dhurandhar also stars Ranveer Singh as a RAW agent, R. Madhavan in an Ajit Doval-inspired role, Akshaye Khanna as gangster Rehman Dakait, and Arjun Rampal as an ISI officer. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on December 5, 2025.
Fans are already calling it one of Sanjay Dutt’s strongest comeback roles, with the trailer trending across platforms. The project marks another high-octane patriotic drama from Aditya Dhar, blending real heroism with gripping action.
