In a shocking disclosure that has stunned Pakistani social media, influencer Sehar Hayat has alleged a deliberate financial deception surrounding her nikaah with Sami Rasheed.
According to Sehar, Sami privately instructed the officiating molvi to record the haq mehar as five lakh rupees in the nikaah documents, while verbally committing to fifty lakh in front of witnesses.
The claim has raised serious questions about transparency and trust within the marriage even before it properly began. Haq mehar in Islamic marriage is a mandatory financial right of the wife, and any discrepancy between the written and verbal figure holds significant legal and moral weight.
Sehar alleged this was not an oversight but a calculated move, suggesting she was intentionally misled during one of the most significant moments of her life. She says the deception only became clear later and added to a growing list of grievances she experienced throughout the marriage.
Sehar also revealed that Sami had been taking financial advantage of her during the course of their relationship and had disrespected her by bringing up her past in arguments.
The couple, who had married in a widely celebrated ceremony in 2023 and welcomed daughter Airah in 2024, officially separated in September 2025, with Sehar eventually filing for khula after repeated incidents of mistreatment. The haq mehar revelation has added fresh fuel to the ongoing controversy.
