US Embassy in Riyadh Hit by Drones

On March 2, 2026, the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, came under a drone attack. Several small drones flew toward the embassy compound in the early morning hours. Saudi air defense systems shot down most of the drones before they reached the main building. A few drones caused minor damage to the outer wall and one outbuilding, but no US staff or Saudi guards were hurt.

The attack was claimed by a group called “Yemen’s Ansar Allah” (Houthis), who said it was in response to US support for Israel and recent strikes on Yemen. Iranian media also shared the news and called it a warning to the US. Saudi officials confirmed the incident and said they are investigating who launched the drones and from where.

The US Embassy released a short statement saying all staff are safe and the compound is secure. They thanked Saudi security forces for their quick action. No American citizens were allowed to leave their homes for a few hours as a safety measure, but normal life returned soon after.

This is not the first time US interests in Saudi Arabia have been targeted. In the past, drones and missiles have hit oil facilities and other sites in the kingdom, mostly linked to Yemen’s conflict. The incident raised fears of more attacks in the region.

Many people in Pakistan and other Muslim countries shared the news on social media. Some supported the action as a reply to US policies, while others worried it could lead to a bigger war. The US and Saudi Arabia promised to find the people behind the attack and take strong steps to stop future threats.

The event shows how tensions in the Middle East can affect diplomatic places like embassies. Everyone hopes peace talks can prevent more violence in the area.
