“Wo Qoum Ki Ankhein Kholte Kholte Apni Kharab Kar Bethe”, Bilal Qureshi on Imran Khan Vision Loss

Pakistani actor Bilal Qureshi has joined the chorus of voices expressing deep concern over former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s deteriorating health, particularly his reported vision loss while imprisoned in Adiala Jail.

Recent medical reports submitted to Pakistan’s Supreme Court revealed that Khan has been left with only 15 percent vision in his right eye due to a condition diagnosed as right central retinal vein occlusion. This blood clot caused severe retinal damage.

The condition developed after Khan had normal 6×6 vision in both eyes until October 2025, when he began experiencing persistent blurred and hazy vision that he repeatedly reported to jail authorities.

The emotional toll of this news has resonated throughout Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Fellow actor Mishi Khan was seen on social media in tears, making an emotional appeal to the government about Khan’s health.

Bilal Qureshi, who has been vocal about his support for the PTI founder, previously demanded that the government show a glimpse of their leader to reassure supporters of his wellbeing.

The phrase circulating among supporters, “Wo qoum ki ankhein kholte kholte apni kharab kar bethe” (He damaged his own eyes while trying to open the nation’s eyes), has become a poignant commentary on Khan’s political journey and the price he has paid for his leadership.

According to medical reports, Khan appeared visibly concerned about the deterioration, with watery eyes throughout meetings, repeatedly using tissues to wipe them. The Supreme Court has ordered urgent medical evaluation by a specialized team before February 16, recognizing the gravity of the situation.

Khan’s supporters argue that his vision loss is metaphorically tragic, a leader who dedicated himself to awakening political consciousness among Pakistanis has now lost much of his own sight while imprisoned. The incident has intensified calls for his release and proper medical treatment.
