Pakistani TV host and actress Fiza Ali has found herself at the centre of a fresh controversy after a viral clip from her morning show sparked nationwide debate.
The clip, which aired during a recent episode, showed her husband, Ejaz Khan, making a surprise appearance and lifting her over his shoulder in a lighthearted moment, while their young daughter, present in the studio, reacted cheerfully. After the broadcast, the video quickly spread on social media, drawing mixed reactions. While many viewers treated it humorously, others criticized it as unsuitable for television.
PEMRA took notice and issued a formal notice to 24 News, demanding an explanation. The authority made it clear that all broadcasters are expected to strictly follow professional and ethical standards, especially during live programming. The notice mentioned that the husband made highly inappropriate comments and obnoxious gestures on air without editorial oversight.
Punjab Information Minister Hina Parvez Butt also reacted strongly, criticizing what she described as inappropriate behavior shown on air and urging PEMRA to act.
Fiza Ali addressed the backlash via Instagram, describing the incident as a “lighthearted, spontaneous gesture” that was never intended to offend, emphasising there was no inappropriate meaning behind it.
Defending herself, Fiza reportedly said her husband is halaal for her and questioned why people were making such a big deal out of it. She later chose silence, saying people often misinterpret situations, no matter how many explanations are given.
