Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Shrine Offerings: Gold, Silver & Rs. 23.8 Million in Cash

One of Pakistan’s most beloved Sufi shrines has once again revealed the extraordinary devotion of its visitors. The offering boxes at the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif, Sindh, were opened recently after being sealed for over eight months.

According to Chief Administrator Auqaf Mukhtiar Abro, the counting process ran for four days and yielded Rs. 23.878 crore in cash from the boxes. Gold and silver in large quantities were also found inside, along with foreign currency. The gold and silver items will be preserved in the Tosha Khana, while the cash will be deposited in a bank under the supervision of Auqaf officials.

The shrine, located in Sehwan Sharif in the Pakistani province of Sindh, is one of the most important religious sites in the country and attracts up to one million visitors annually. It is dedicated to the 13th-century Sufi saint whose name carries deep meaning. “Lal” refers to the red attire he traditionally wore, “Shahbaz” means falcon and symbolizes spiritual elevation, and “Qalandar” denotes one who transcends worldly bounds.

Every year, around two million pilgrims attend the annual festival at the shrine, offering cash, gold, silver, and foreign currency as acts of devotion. The massive treasure found inside the boxes is a reflection of the deep love millions of people across Pakistan hold for this revered saint. The shrine continues to stand as one of South Asia’s most powerful spiritual destinations.
