Ahsan Khan Says Surah Ad-Duha Holds the Answer to Depression

Pakistani actor and TV host Ahsan Khan has sparked an important conversation about mental health by sharing how Islamic teachings helped him personally overcome depression.

During a recent appearance on Frieha Altaf’s talk show, Khan reflected on his personal experiences with emotional stress, noting that he went through a mild phase of depression while working on the intense drama series Udaari, as the demands of emotionally heavy roles can sometimes take a toll on an actor’s mental well-being.

He specifically referred to Surah Ad-Duha as a powerful source of hope and comfort, saying the surah conveys a message that Allah never abandons a person, even during the most difficult and lonely moments of life. He said that recitation and reflection on its meaning provided him with mental peace and reassurance during his recovery process.

Ahsan also shared that Islam teaches helping others as a great way to help yourself out of depression, noting that you naturally feel good when you do something good for someone else. He emphasized that the Quran has acknowledged depression and offers a remedy for it.

His heartfelt sharing not only destigmatizes discussions around mental health but also highlights the spiritual resources available within Islamic teachings for emotional resilience. In a society where mental health is often considered a taboo subject, Ahsan Khan’s openness is being widely praised.
