Pakistani social media star Jannat Mirza has once again made headlines after a viral interview clip resurfaced in which she revealed that she was offered a lead role in a Bollywood film opposite popular Indian actor Kartik Aaryan, and turned it down.
The viral clip is from a 2020 interview Jannat gave to a YouTube channel, where she candidly discussed her career and the opportunities she turned down. “I was offered the lead role in a Bollywood film with Kartik Aaryan, but I refused,” she claimed. When asked why she declined, she explained that her father would never allow her to work in an Indian film and that she herself had no desire to do so.
She also mentioned her discomfort over the way Muslims are treated in India as another reason behind her decision.
She mentioned preferring to stay connected with her audience through social media, saying that today’s youth prefer scrolling through content at home rather than going to cinemas, and that social media gives her the power to reach fans whenever and wherever they want.
Interestingly, Jannat also revealed that she was offered the negative role played by Kubra Khan in Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay and the role played by Ushna Shah in Parizaad, but she refused both Pakistani drama offers as well.
As her video made rounds on social media, netizens did not miss the chance to react, with some users sarcastically claiming they too had rejected major film roles.
Jannat, who enjoys a massive following on TikTok and Instagram, has already made a mark in Pakistani entertainment and made her acting debut in the film Tere Bajre Di Rakhi. Despite the mixed reactions online, her bold stance on cross-border entertainment continues to generate significant public debate.
